TUMB 10/01 Agency consists of: James Brownstone, Owner, creator Trey - Local gang leader, first employee Charlyce - Trey's aunt, originally homeless, brought into Agency for Office, receptionist, etc. by Trey and Nana, Trey's grandmother. Chris Royce, ex-marine, staff trainer in fighting techniques, fitness training, philosophy of warfare and fighting. Sgt. Mack, BBQ team leader, general consultant. Not an employee, good friend of Brownstone's, landlord to some of the agency staff. Lachlan, Russell, Daryl, Isaiah, Shorty

TUMB 05/3,etc. As Brownstone's reputation grows, so do the number of requests for his help. Sgt. Mack has begun to ask him to bring in Level Ones, as they might "turn" and supply the Police Department with vital information on bigger fish. It has gotten to the point where Brownstone needs to do something about it, so he creates the Brownstone agency, a legal, licensed, bank-account, S Corporation entity. He has asked Trey, the leader of his local gang, to be his first employee, and Trey agrees. (He could turn the gang into something more disciplined; more useful to both the city and themselves. They could push back against the assholes together, and make good money doing it at the same time.) Shay thinks it's a good idea.

Brownstone immediately sends him out to do some First Level stuff, and Trey is very successful in bringing in the perps. Trey also begins to develop a more solid character, (See Character - Trey), and begins to advise Brownstone on what the business should become.

“I say stick the boys in suits. That can be our Brownstone Agency trademark. We’ll be the best-looking sonsabitches in LA. Nothing wrong with going legit after you’ve proven you’re badasses.” Trey agreed, and starts to develop a new personae, one with better English grammar (He marveled at Trey. The gang leader could switch up his language in an instant to whatever people expected. It was a good strategy, because it made people underestimate his intelligence.) and vocabulary, better dressed ("slick"), smarter (wears armor and protection when goes out on the job), and is reading more, as one of his new mottoes is “The more you know, the less you die."( Sun Tzu, The Art of War) Trey believes in trying non-violence first (My name is Trey Garfield. I’m with the Brownstone Agency, and I’m here to bring you in.”), as a reputation will be developed that will save energy and lives further down the line. (I figure if the word goes out that the Brownstone Agency won’t dog on a man once the cuffs are on, more guys will surrender.) Believes that "Trey Garfield brings style to this game."

Trey has also started to recruit new employees from his old gang and has requested that Daryl and Isaiah be allowed to join the staff. so now James has to find someone to train them in proper techniques and behavior. He interviews Staff Sergeant Chris Royce, retired. The reputation of the Brownstone Agency was growing with each capture.

TUMB 05/12 Staff Development: Brownstone interviewed Chris Royce at lunch at a good BBQ place. I want someone who can handle recruiting new people, training new people, and, fuck, I guess staff management or whatever you want to call it for a lot of guys with a lot of testosterone. I’ve really only got one guy working for me now. I need you to instill discipline in new recruits. If I’m gonna grow this company, I can’t have a bunch of thugs going out there and causing trouble. My name’s attached and my rep’s attached, which means it’s my responsibility. You get my men disciplined, able to shoot and hit shit, and throw a punch. Trey and I can help them figure out the investigation part.” Not afraid of gang members, who just need someone to be a symbol. “You’re that fucking symbol, whether you like it or not. Men always need someone to rally around, and you’re the fucking man in charge—and unlike a lot of generals, you can personally kick ass. If you can’t handle a little attention, this isn’t gonna work.” “That offer you sent me in the email still stands? That’s some damned good pay. Very generous.” “Pay for the best, you get the best. Besides, I’m not a stingy guy.” Where are we going to be doing this?” “Royce, why don’t you tell me what you need and I’ll buy a building.” Once they brought Royce on, agency action would explode.
