In the many series included in the Oriceran wiki,the USA had similar groupings for their defensive forces, with slightly different names. Within each series, there was a group, led by a General, specializing in hiring/using magical beings (witches, wizards) to fight crime against the government.

In TLC (The Leira Chronicles) this group was called the Paranormal Defensive Forces, headed by Major Anderson,and it hired Leira to be prime in that series.

In TUMB (The Unbelievable Mr. Brownstone), the group was called the Paranormal Defense Agency, and was headed by Major Davies. This was an agency active at the National level, which would lend its magical specialists to the US Government's Special Forces, the national group which was sent out to fight terrorists who might or might not have magical connections. Major Davies, commander of the Special Forces troops, wished the Department of Defense would hurry up and better integrate active magical beings directly into the military. They couldn’t keep fighting their battles using old tactics and strategies, or constantly be borrowing resources from non-DoD departments. (See Groups US Government Special Forces (TUMB)

Paranormal Defense Force

The sign that hung on the door to the large, open room said PDF in large black letters. It stood for Paranormal Defense Force a U.S.A small government-approved resource, and was comprised of a small group of hand-selected magical creatures whose ancestry went back to Oriceran. It was housed in a a nondescript, low-slung grey brick building that was tucked in the back of an office park decked out to look like different companies that sold manufacturing equipment in Alexandria, Virginia just across the river from Washington, D.C. It was a government front for an enterprise that was known only as the G4 Project, including the PDF. The witches and wizards, and a handful of elves that worked there liked to refer to it as Area 51, but only when their human coworkers weren’t around. In a grey brick building, in a run-down manufacturing area in Arlington, Virginia. On Earth to track and monitor unregistered use of magic. Not associated with the Silver Griffins.

Lois and Patsy keep it going, as desk personnel, etc. Keep records of past events, good reminiscing here - many pages worth. Each hire had to have been born on Earth, and to have some % of Oriceran heritage in their DNA. Magical beings made ordinary human beings very nervous, in general. It was why they kept the small department off the books. The PDF was the ultimate black-op. All the members of the PDF looked as ordinary as any other mid-level manager who worked for the government, even if they did have the ability to turn somebody into a toad.There were jokes around the department about what PDF actually stood for. On bad days it was joked the PDF stood for Put Down Fast, a reference to the days when human beings liked to dissect anything they didn’t understand. On better days, PDF stood for Presto Digitalis Frenzy, an incantation every magical child learned that made someone cluck like a chicken. At least once a year, someone got fed up and made a human general, or worse, a Congressman from some small state who had just learned about their existence and insisted on a tour, flap their arms and crane their neck, gulping in air as they crowed at the fluorescent lights overhead.

Leira and the P. D. F.

General Anderson was the head of the group, and was the one who contacted Leira to come and work for the US government. She will "act as liaison between the human beings and the magical world at large, including other worlds or dimensions." The government knows about magic, and is beginning to prepare for its entry into Earth life, when the portals start to open twenty years from now. See story line events, P.D.F.
