TUMB Series

These characters appeared only briefly, or were minor in their roles in the book(s), so were not awarded their own entries.

TUMB 02 Rejected by Heaven

Walt Anderson: Alison's father. Had sold her mother, Nicole, to the Harriken because he wanted to get her legacy, the Oriceran wish, for himself. Thought that they might torture it out of her. When that was unsuccessful, he sold Alison to them, as well, but Brownstone rescued her before the Harriken could take her. Killed by Brownstone after Nicole rescued and died.

Stephen: Ex penny stockbroker, who handled the transactions, and created the markets, for Father McCartney's donation of the BBQ stocks. Given by Brownstone, stocks for the orphanage and the parrish. Disbarred because of his manipulations in the Chiuldren of Fenrir affair (another book)

Mack: An active policeman, to whom Brownstone usually went to turn in, register, and collect his bounties. Wanted to be friends with Brownstone, protect him in the police department when he could, because felt that they were all on the same side. Protected Brownstone from the AET in the King Pry affair.

Jordan Adams, AKA King Pyro: A major character in two incidents in this book. Had come across the distilled essence of a fire spirit in a potion. drank it, and became, in his mind, the God of Fire. Captured by Brownstone as a new pyrotechnic, in the Dark Sun Bar, and killed by Brownstone in the bank robbery after he had escaped from jail.

Jose Padilla AKA Sombra : The man was a necromancer who kidnapped innocent people. Apparently the Mexican government had become so disturbed by his activities at one point, including raising a rather sizeable force of reanimated corpses (zombies), they’d sent fighters to bomb the mountains in an attempt to kill him. Brownstone went after him while on the trip with shay to Baja California. Died when he attempted to kill Brownstone by ripping out his heart. When his hand touched Brownstone's chest, Sombra screamed, and died. No apparent reason. Made Brownstone wonder if he was some kind of a monster.

Weber: A Policeman on Maria Hall's team, who is with her as she and Washington follow Brownstones escapeds from the surveillance drones. Keeps supporting Brownstone's actions, getting angry glances, comments from Hall.

Tyler: Bartender at the Dark Sun Bar. VERY low-life oriented. Passes info for money. Doesn't like Brownstone, "This is the Super Bowl, the World Series, my birthday, and Christmas all rolled into one. I won’t be able to get much sleep until it’s over, but after that I’ll sleep like a baby, secure in the knowledge that you got fucked over.” Is a businessman, and sold Brownstone the info he was requesting (Location of local Harriken baase.( 02/8, 03/5) Tyler wasn't profiting from brownstone's suffering, and wanted to do something about it. Tyler prided himself on his ability to make money in a dangerous world without putting himself in jeopardy. Some of that was accomplished through making himself indispensable, in addition to a assiduously-practiced neutrality. The key, though, was not relying on personal physical threats. He knew that in the end there was always someone tougher, stronger, and more ruthless; a lesson Brownstone was now learning. Cretinous thugs killed and robbed people for a living. A smart and successful criminal preyed on those who thought they were preying on others while making them think he was doing them a favor. That was winning at life. And Tyler was a winner. The problem being, the bartender was having trouble finding any angle to profit from here. The damned bounty hunter was moving around too much so Tyler couldn’t make much money selling people his location, but he needed to make money off the situation—if only to prove something to himself and that asshole bounty hunter. He needed to beat James Brownstone, so starts a betting pool on when Brownstone will be taken down. (TUMB 03/10)

Absolute Zero: A hitman, who followed Brownstone to an abandoned warehouse, to kill him for the bounty money. Brownstone disabled him, called the police, left him for the LAPD to find and book on assault against Brownstone. 03/6 Killed by Esteban 03/8.

Esteban: another hitman after Brownstone. after Harriken bounty money. He cared less about the money than the value to his reputation. . Brownstone would die and prove that Esteban was the greater creation. And if it was his time to meet the Devil, then so be it. “Thank you, Señor Brownstone,” the assassin whispered to himself, “for finally giving me a challenge worthy of my talents.” 03/8) Esteban again checks on Brownstone, heading to Orange County. Brownstone had knocked out the drones, but having everyone in the city looking for the bounty hunter certainly made things easier. Money changed hands here and there for the reports. An entire temporary economy centered around the tracking and murder of one man had arisen. A nice .50-caliber sniper rifle that sent an armor-piercing bullet to the man’s head would finish him. It’d been a long time since he’d used Isabella to finish off someone instead of El Cid. Eagerness clawed at Esteban’s mind. (TUMB 03/10)
