TSoNM 01/17 In a book on magical beings, Alison found a picture of a man with silver hair just like her mother’s. The word “Drow” was written in fancy cursive at the top of the page “’The name ‘Drow’ is a subtext of troll, which are distant relatives. The ancient Drow were seen as dark elves, some very talented in dark magic. They worked and lived in a system of underground caves and castles, and were especially well versed in working with metals. As the Drow became more skilled, they became feared by many in the light and ultimately dwindled in number. Current day Drow are hard to find, living and moving in the shadows. Alison turned the page, finding a picture of a queen Drow, her features similar to her mother’s. “’Drow tend to have darkened skin, though it starts out light like a Light Elf’s. Pigmentation increases in with age. Their hair becomes fully white when they reach maturity, and some royal Drow have been known to have bright silvery wisps throughout their childhoods.’” ’The Drow’s powers were never fully known. They were capable of many things, including casting spells to confuse opponents.’ Confuse opponents? What does that mean?”

TSoNM 01/21 Harvey, the groundsman, knew Alison was a Drow and the dark magic called to her, even if she hadn’t figured that out yet. During several times in history Drow had maintained a neutral position between light and dark, but rarely was a Drow all good.

TSoNM 01/, 27Harvey said, “I did some research last time I was in the underground city. Figured you would want to know a little more about your people. I came across a section on sleep and it said that Drow generally do not sleep, not like most creatures anyway. They go into a trance-like state where their bodies rejuvenate. They were so busy underground all the time that taking some time to stop and trance out every once in a while throughout the day was easiest for them. So, I guess you not sleeping is a Drow thing.” Drow are known for being dark creatures.

TSONM 04/15 Professor Hodges told her, "Drow can take on the appearance of others. “They can’t become a different species, but they can take on anyone’s appearance and look completely different. They’ve used this in the past to fool even those who knew them the best. Apparently, Drow magic is so powerful they can even fool their own mother. There isn’t any spell required for it, at least from what I know. It’s more about confidence or need. When you really need to do something, the Drow magic will take over and allow you to transform into someone else.”

TUMB 07/14 Maria Hall visits Dannec's house. He tells her that there are Drow in town, and that she will need to protect someone from their activities.

Dannec tells her About the Drow, a type of elf. “These aren’t like the Light Elves and Wood Elves you’re used to, or any other type of elf you’ve ever dealt with. They are a very powerful subset of elves, and they only respect power. These Drow are here now, in this city. You have sworn to protect and serve, have you not? The presence of these Drow means someone in LA is going to need protection. Let me put it in terms you can better understand, Lieutenant. In terms of destructive magical ability, the average strong Drow would probably be a level-five bounty, and some of the royals, level sixes.” “Okay, so they are a little tougher than your average douchebag. Wait a second. Do they have a certain type of magic that they use? Like a certain style?” He nodded. “Drow are Dark Elves, so their magic is forged of shadow and often fueled by death. While not pure necromancers, they can use souls and life to feed their abilities.” Maria shot off the couch. “Shadow magic? Like shadow swords and shadow wings and shit like that?” “Yes, among many other impressive feats. I can’t stress enough that they shouldn’t be dismissed based on your dealings with previous rogue elves.” “You said they respect power, and even I’m willing to admit Brownstone’s powerful. Would they work with him? Maybe lend him some magical muscle?” “It’s not impossible, but it’s unlikely. Their power is matched only by their pride. Helping an outsider—especially a human—would be out of character. If they have any sort of interactions with Brownstone at all, it’s far more likely that rather than helping him, they want something from him—and it’s not going to end well for him. Even the mighty James Brownstone may soon encounter a foe too dangerous for him to handle.”

Maria tells him about the Widow Maker. This woman looked like a human, but she used powerful magic that looked a lot like shadow magic to me.Called us insects.” “She may very well have been a Drow in disguise. Sounds as arrogant as one. Since they only worry about power and the strength of their own people, the Drow aren’t above underhanded tactics—assassination, imitation, and that sort of thing if it suits their own purposes. They aren’t as bad as the Atlanteans only in that they’ve always been few in number, so they’ve been forced to restrain themselves or risk destruction.” Why isn’t the consulate keeping magical terrorists out of my fucking city, especially if they have such a nasty reputation?” “Politics afflict Oriceran as much as Earth. We maintained peace through the Great Treaty with the ever-present worry of destruction looming over both our lands. A certain amount of tolerance has to be extended even to the more difficult elements.” Going after these Drow and neutralizing them, even if it involves protecting James Brownstone, will serve the cause of order in this city.

TUMB 07/19 - 26 Three Drow Sorcerers ( Zavan, Kaella and Reyal) come to Earth to try to find/retrieve Alison, who inherited her Mother's position as a Drow Princess. However, the feel that they will need to capture/kill Brownstone to find Alison and take her back to Oriceran, to their Queen. They almost succeed (battle at the Salton Sea, in California), but Maria Hall comes to Brownstone's aid, and the three are destroyed.

TUMB 08/5 Maria's acknowledgement of the Drow as fighters

"How tough were the Drow individually?” “Easily would have been level-five bounties. Crazy shadow magic, partial flight, blades, ranged weapons, and defensive spells. Even when we got to them, the damned bastards regenerated. They got the drop on him before we could get there. We showed up just in time to save his ass.”

So even the great James Brownstone’s just a man in the end.”

"Sure. A man who took on three bastards who could probably hold off an entire AET team individually, but sure. We threw the works at them. Didn’t have our drones with us, but stun rifles, bullets, anti-magic bullets, and railguns, and that included Brownstone having worn them down before we showed up. Dannec gave me a little party favor that helped.” We won because of Brownstone’s quick thinking. The assholes were doing some seriously messed-up magic. To be honest, I think they were about to blow all our asses to Hell, and I mean that literally. Another cop got off a lucky shot at them, but the level of magic…” , if there’d only been two of them I think he could have won, but even one of them would have been enough to give us trouble.
