TDC 01/18 Daniel and Peter had kept all of the old journals and memos they could find concerning Daniels parent. It was locked in the basement, in boxes. Old photos, maps, books, and journals, the main physical evidence left that his parents had ever existed, a record of their adventures. He frowned as he stared at a picture of his parents in safari hats, loose pants, and tactical harnesses in front of a stepped pyramid. Daniel set the picture to the side and picked up a small book with yellowed pages, a chronicle of a forgotten and lost archaeological expedition of Egyptian pyramids led by a Sir Michael Garfield. Antarctica. Japan. Brazil. Malta. His parents had traveled all over the world during their adventures.

He picked up another journal. The handwriting was his father’s. Most of it was written in nearly indecipherable shorthand that likely detailed some important information for his parents’ adventurers. He turned a few pages. A careful drawing of a circle covered the page. Symbols surrounded the circle, some strikingly familiar. Some sort of sigil, maybe. They looked familiar. They were the same symbols that had been on the Nozzle artifact, and on the Shot-gun control rod.

He scanned the page, looking for more clues, and found a few notes at the bottom written by his father. Copied from the Codex of the Sky Gods. Why did they burn it? Need to decipher symbols. No relation to any existing language. Oriceran? Still checking.

Peter walked in, and they talked about the reference. “The Codex of the Sky Gods was something your parents sought for years. I didn’t think it had anything to do with their disappearance before, but I saw something recently with those symbols that made me start thinking about it again (the shot-gun control panel). I suspect it’s not from either Oriceran or Earth.”

"They thought those symbols in that configuration were the key to a gateway that led to another planet, not Oriceran. They were never able to decode the meaning of the symbols fully, but they knew they were vital to understanding how to reach this other planet.Your parents were actually were looking into aliens from other worlds. The Codex of the Sky Gods was something your parents sought for years. On their last job, they were searching some ruins that might reveal the meaning of the symbols associated with the Codex, and they disappeared. They thought those symbols in that configuration were the key to a gateway that led to another planet. They were never able to decode the meaning of the symbols fully, but they knew they were vital to understanding how to reach this other planet.”

Peter asked him, " Would you rather simply be Tim’s tool or pick up where your parents left off and save the worlds?” And there was no way Daniel would be able to walk away from the artifacts and his parents' disappearance.

TDC 01/25 His parents had been seeking, a source of information that would lead them to a gateway to another world, and when he saw the three-dimensional holographic representation of the Earth and its artifacts in the Rogue meeting room, he knew that he had now his own source of information that might lead him not only to get that gateway but to his own codex. I’ll protect my neighborhood, country, and planet from all enemies foreign and domestic. Human or magical. Terrestrial or extraterrestrial. The Daniel Codex was operational.
